Where Is The Best Wedding Destination?
Where Have You Chosen To Get Married?
There are so many incredible destinations to get married, that I think it would be impossible for me to even scratch the surface.
There are the more well known destinations which will always remain popular due to their beautiful climates, amazing scenery and excellent facilities but there are also some hidden gems off the beaten track which make for a truly unique wedding.
I got married in France so with a touch of bias I would say this is my number one destination choice but on a recent holiday to Italy I fell in love with Ravello on the Amalfi Coast … but I also love the idea of a getting married on a beautiful tropical island in Australia and a wedding in the historic setting of Dubrovnik in Croatia!
So tell me…
Where ts the Best Wedding Destination?
What destination did you choose for your wedding? Or is there a destination that you think would be the perfect setting for a truly memorable wedding?

I got married in Denmark, which was absolutely fabulous and I wouldn’t change it for world… but let’s just say that if I could get married again (to the same guy of course), then I would choose Malcesine, Italy.
I was just there on vacation and it is an amazing place. It’s on a big lake, surrounded by beautiful mountains.
There’s a castle with amazing views and this is where I would choose for the ceremony. (see photo above).
The town is all cobble stones with tiny streets and it is so cute there.
The people are extremely friendly and the food is to die for.
This is also a great place for a honeymoon. There’s so much to do!

Hattonchatel Chateau is a magnificent castle with a beautiful view and I think it’s the perfect romantic setting for a wedding abroad.
You can see the lake “lac de Medine” several miles away, in addition you have a clear view over the valley with small forests and local villages.
The Chateau has a rich story – all the way back to the 9th century. An American lady Miss Bella Skinner restored the castle after it was partly destroyed after the 1st World War.
After you enter the huge gates you enter another world. You can imagine yourself being a Prince or Princess, arriving to the ball, that’s going to be held in the fabulous knights hall “La Salle de Burgraves”, which is a listed hall.
The suites with en-suite bathrooms are huge and authentic. Most of the walls are made of very nice fabric and they all give you a warm and welcoming feeling.
The chapel next door adds to this fantastic location and it is the perfect setting for a romantic wedding.

Dubrovnik is simply the most beautiful wedding destination.
Ben and I have always been keen on travelling and seeing new countries and we actually met in a train station in Split, Croatia 5 years ago.
We were both inter-railing with friends and we stumbled across each other whilst waiting for a train. We all got talking and travelled together around Eastern Europe for the following week. The relationship went from there!
We couldn’t decide where to get married in England, me being from the south and Ben being from the north. A traditional English service just wouldn’t have been a reflection of us, and so we thought it would be fitting, and different from any other wedding that we’d been to, if we went abroad.
Our guests seemed to really enjoy coming abroad and a lot of them probably wouldn’t have thought of going to Croatia for a holiday before coming to our wedding. Lots of people commented on how relaxed and happy the day was and everyone seemed to have a good time.
We tried to give our guests help with finding accommodation and cheap flights. It isn’t the easiest place to get to cheaply and you have to search for good deals but some of our guests got some really good bargains on their flights and accommodation! I think some of our guests would like more friends to get married abroad now, as it was a good excuse for a holiday!
So my vote for Best Wedding Destination goes to Dubrovnik!

Lindos is on the East coast of the Greek Island of Rhodes. Rhodes is one of the Dodecanese islands in the southeast part of the Aegean Sea.
The Greek Orthodox chapel of St Paul’s is in a truly romantic setting just south of Lindos and just a few minutes walk from the village.
Set at the foot of the cliffs that make up part of St Paul’s Bay this picturesque chapel is tucked away at the end of its tiny beach, within sight of the Acropolis of Lindos which is just across the bay.
The Greek Orthodox Church state that St Paul the Apostle was shipwrecked just outside of Lindos and found shelter here. Hence the name of the chapel.
We had a private wedding planner called Lindos Weddings and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone planning a wedding in this location – they are amazing and turn a fantastic day into an unforgettable one!

Where do I start…where do I start…hum! Let’s start with these lines…A woman’s dream wedding! Unbelievably spectacular! Romantic beyond expectations! And did I mention the church? Wow…soooo amazing!
If you are thinking about getting married in Italy I would say, do it. Because, with me the before, the during and the after wedding experience in Positano was the best thing I ever did in my life.
I currently live in Laguna Niguel, California, and before getting married in Positano my wife and I were thinking about getting married in Laguna Beach, California – not a shabby place either.
Since it’s my second go-around at this marriage thing I felt that if we had a ceremony in Laguna Beach nothing would be much different then my last ceremony in Newport Beach, Calfornia. After all things considered my wife and I decided to make things a bit more exciting.
What a journey. Not just the legal stuff, but the journey one goes through to make all things come together. The paper work in the States. The anticipation. The flight into Rome. The Eurostar into Naples. Going to the American Consulate in Naples. The drive to Salerno, the drive along the Amalfi coast and meeting everyone that has a part of making your Big Day happen. It was all awesome!
We also had some friends and family meet us in Positano and for all of them there journey was equally as exciting. When the Big Day finally arrived everything came together perfectly, beginning to end.
The church, the flowers, the reception, the photographer, the music, and even the car. All perfect.
By the way…none of this would have happened without Linda Gatto.
Thanks,
Linda

After the longest engagement in history (12 years!) we were recently married at Kefalos Beach Village, Paphos, Cyprus.
We wanted a wedding abroad and had looked at various places over the past few years but we decided Cyprus because we wanted to have a Catholic Blessing (in addition to the legal/civil ceremony) and Cyprus is one of the few places abroad that you can have this. Also, we had been to Cyprus before for a holiday and really enjoyed it so we knew what to expect in terms of the resort in general.
We chose the Kefalos complex firstly because of its location and the fact that it is built on the beach. You can see from the website that its setting is just perfect for a summer holiday as not only do you have your accommodation, bars, restaurants and swimming pools on your doorstep but also the beach.
In addition, it is also right in the middle of Paphos with plenty of bars & restaurants within short walking distance but if you want to walk a bit further (or jump in a bus or taxi) you have the beautiful Coral Beach in one direction and the bustling shops, café bars and exciting nightlife at the harbour in the other direction. You really do get the best of both worlds at the Kefalos but if you don’t want to go anywhere, you do not need to, they have it all!
Back to the wedding, the next factor in our decision – and this was a major one – was that we could have our whole wedding i.e. the civil ceremony, chapel blessing and reception all in the one place so once our guests arrived they were there for the day. Of course you do not have to do this if you wish to go to the Town Hall or a Church for your wedding but for us we just loved the idea of everyone being in the one place for the whole day and indeed it worked out just perfectly.
I (the bride) arranged everything myself in conjunction with the Public Relations Manager (Elena) at the Kefalos. She was absolutely wonderful and if there was something that she did not know the answer to straight away, she would go and find out, she was absolutely amazing.
We arranged our day so that it kicked off at 2pm with our civil ceremony (the legal bit) in the conservatory which is just off the main reception which is beautifully decorated and it is well air conditioned and so lovely and cool. It also overlooks the pools and beach so it is such a nice setting. The red carpet was laid out for me to walk in through the main doors and into the conservatory where my guests were waiting. We had the ceremony there and because our Chapel Blessing didn’t take place until 4pm we had arranged for canapés, champagne and punch for all of our guests so we then did some eating, drinking, chatting and photos before heading down to the small Chapel (within the Kefalos grounds) where we had our Catholic ceremony.
After this we had some more photos and moved along to the pool bar where our table for our 25 guests was perfectly laid out but as we had some time before our evening meal (we chose the Cyprus buffet) we and our guests relaxed on the sea front and sipped champagne and cocktails until it was time for the food to be served. This for me was just idyllic and so relaxing and it was one of the nicest parts of the day.
Then onto the reception and after what was a wonderful buffet dinner and wine we had some speeches, some people had a dip in the sea and we finished the evening with music and dancing at the entertainment stage which is two minutes walk from where we had our meal. It was an altogether perfect day and to be honest, I want to do it again!
Thanks to everyone at the Kefalos for what was the most memorable day of our lives and indeed we and all of our family not only enjoyed the wedding day but the full fortnight’s holiday. We will be back!
