Spain is a fantastic location for an Indian Destination Wedding, offering a vast selection of venues, suppliers, culture and architecture.
Planning an Indian wedding is certainly no simple or easy feat, wherever the destination! It must be rich in detail and able to relate seamlessly to the very culture itself! Rebecca from Barcelona Brides has provided us with some insider tips on planning an Indian wedding in Spain.
As huge, lively celebrations, with extensive family and guests, it’s important that the planning must incorporate all the traditions and intricacies at the heart of an Indian wedding in order for it to be truly authentic. If done correctly, the ceremony and celebrations around it will fully embrace Indian culture.
Speaking as a wedding planner in Barcelona, I can say without a doubt this stunning city has a beautiful selection of venues, large and small, catering to all preferences, styles and tastes. Below, I take a look at three of my favourite wedding venues in Spain perfect for holding an Indian Wedding.
Luxury Hotel Venue
The Dolce Sitges is a stunning example of such a venue. This hotel is truly a one stop shop for anyone planning large Indian wedding celebrations. Overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and Catalonian mountains, the views are breath-taking and perfect for setting up a traditional Mandap in all its glory, in the lush, expansive grounds.
The main building houses a striking ballroom style function suite, overlooking the grounds. An excellent place to host the joyful Sangeet and Mehndi event and even the main wedding reception, with spectacular lighting effects, large guest capacity, state of the art entertainment equipment and plenty of space for traditional Indian dancing!
Ancient Glamour
If you are looking for something slightly different, however, the Palau Requesens is definitely the place to go! Beautiful, but with an ancient glamour, this palace with a 350-guest capacity, exudes just the right amount of gothic beauty for a magical Indian wedding celebration, complete with a spectacular fire show as part of the wedding reception.
Country Castle
Lastly, there is the wonderous Castell de Caramany, an elegant, rural, castle in the town of Corçà . Steeped in Catalonian history, the castle is listed as a cultural asset of national interest and will ignite the true sense of an authentic Indian wedding with a 280-guest capacity. Vast and luscious grounds can be seen for miles, again, perfect for a Mandap, or even for the groom’s procession on his white horse with his family and friends to the altar.
Indian Wedding in Spain – Vendors
In addition to sourcing these superb venues, we have a catalogue of services that we offer and preferred vendors that we have carefully handpicked from the very best. As mentioned before, we take planning very seriously and that means observing our couple’s traditions. From a selection of Pandits, through to music, entertainment and Indian cuisine to the Indian wedding pre-party of the year!
Amongst these vendors is Ed Pereira, a passionate and highly talented fine art wedding photographer. Having vast knowledge and experience of capturing Indian weddings, he blends in seamlessly to the background whilst catching the very best natural and emotional moments of the event.
We also have an excellent henna artist as another of our preferred vendors, Henna by Pat. Pat is an expert in henna bridal work and uses her own self-made henna paste to create the most intricate designs for your Mehndi.
