A Romantic Wedding by the Vineyards.
A series of villages all nestled close together, only a few kilometres apart, all set amongst vineyard-clad hills as far as the eye can see, word-famous wine and exceptional food. This was the perfect backdrop for Marius and Marthe wedding in Italy which they organised with the help of the talented wedding planner Barbara Gourdain from Extraordinary Weddings Italy and captured by Ricardofoto AS, Norway.
Marthe and Marius had a really amazing dream weekend. With the help of their wedding planner, the couple arranged two days of fabulous celebrations for guests. Barbara Goudain shares details of the wedding below.
Location: La Morra, Piedmont, Italy
From: Norway
Number of Guests: 65
Nearest Airport: Turin International Airport / Milan International Airport
The Location
Langhe in Piedmont is a UNESCO World Heritage site candidate rolling hills covered with a succession of vineyards, hazelfields and dense woods. It’s a unique place to discover and learn about…. a place for couples who are looking for something really different! … a land that features world-famous wines (Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo etc…) and exceptional food amid stunning landscapes and breath-taking scenery.
The small village of La Morra was the perfect location for the weekend celebration.
The Welcome Dinner
Friday night was an informal get-together dinner buffet, to welcome the guests of Marthe and Marius wedding. A wine tasting of great red wines of the area, produced by the world renowned Cantina Michele Chiarlo, was served in their wine cellar, followed by a buffet full of typical Italian food, a pizza chef preparing pizzas in front of the guest cooked in a wood oven and an ice-cream motorbike offering delicious home-made ice-cream and sorbets.
A spectacular sunset on the vineyards, candle lights hanged on the trees and the rustic charm of the location made the perfect backdrop. Live music performed by a singer and pianist playing Italian and international music added to the ambience helping to create a relaxed dinner under the stars.
The Wedding Day
A bright September day, a beautiful young couple and one of the most beautiful areas of Italy.
The religious ceremony was celebrated in a spectacular neo-gothic church and they pronounced the most important “I do” of their lives in front of their families and friends, with a very touching celebration where a friend of the bride sang two songs arranged and personalised with special words for the couple.
After the ceremony the couple went to take some photos on the vineyards, driving a cute little Fiat 500 vintage.
The Style
We played with their monogram using a combination of classical elegance with a natural “chic” touch. A palette of ivory and pastel hues was used.
The bridal bouquet was made by the charming David Austin English roses.
Romantic candles and a skilful combination of gypsophila, lisianthus and small roses were the décor design on the tables.
The Wedding Cocktail and Dinner
The location of Palas Cerequio by night was an amazing natural backdrop.
On arrival the guests were welcomed with a cocktail. This was followed by an elegant dinner served on the terrace with a sensational view of the Barolo vineyards, after which the couple cut their amazing wedding cake and danced their first waltz together.
A DJ set had everyone dancing the night away under the stars, accompanied by a chocolate and candy buffet and American bar to 3am when guests were taken by pre-arranged taxies back to their hotels.
Each guest was gifted a “welcome pack” including a door tag to be hung on the room door saying “please do not disturb – we’re recovering from Marius and Marthe’s wedding!”
