Sorrento Sunset Wedding at Relais Blu
Below, Wedding Planner Jo Daye of Accent Events, continues the story of Matt and Emma’s dream wedding in Italy, accompanied by Italian photographer Livio Laccure’s stunning imagery. In case you missed it, make sure you read Part 1 The Getting Ready Shots first.

To create a magical atmosphere for their civil wedding ceremony Matt & Emma asked us to organise live musicians. The harp and flute duo provided a delightfully serene and melodic musical background, ideally suited to the blissful environment of the Cloisters and to Matt & Emma‘s romantic and personal civil ceremony. The duo also arranged and performed three pieces of music specially requested by Matt & Emma for their ceremony.
We understood just how important the ceremony itself was to Emma & Matt and we knew that our wonderful celebrant would guide them expertly with personalising the civil ceremony format. Matt & Emma chose to write their own personal vows to one another, which they read out during the ceremony. They invited two of their friends to give readings and I have to say that the particular readings chosen were so in tune with Matt & Emma’s relationship that they could not possibly have been more perfect.
Immediately after the ceremony, guests had the opportunity to offer their congratulations to the newly married couple during celebratory drinks at a nearby bar. As guests enjoyed the stunning views and soaked up the charming Mediterranean atmosphere, Matt & Emma slipped away briefly to spend a little time alone together in the company of Livio, to capture the all–important couple shots. This short period of time is not only a wonderful ‘catch up and catch a breath’ opportunity for a bride and groom but also a wonderful chance to capture a selection of intimate moments against beautiful backdrops.
Following drinks at the bar, guests were then taken up through the ruggedly beautifully hilly landscape for their first view of the top-secret reception venue, the Relais Blu.
A fabulous jazz trio played during delicious aperitivi while everyone relaxed and marveled at the spectacular panoramic views this venue boasts across the deep blue sea to Capri.
Matt & Emma joined their guests shortly afterwards, entering to a standing ovation.
The evening reception took place on the privacy of the venue’s Capri terrace, named for its magnificent view of the island. The jazz trio changed to a more mellow sound as guests were invited to sit down to dine.
The sunset at Relais Blu – always stunning – was spectacular on the evening of Matt & Emma’s wedding, guests were drawn to the ‘chill out’ area to take in the magic of mother nature.
One of Emma’s requests was to have sparklers at her wedding. We arranged with Emma’s brother to gather guests together to form a walk-way each holding sparklers which lit Matt & Emma ‘s path as they walked up to the terrace for their first dance to Adele’s “Someone Like You”. Utterly special and utterly perfect.
