Sorrento Sunset Wedding
This is the beautiful story of British couple Matt and Emma and their wedding in Italy. With her fantastic narrative Wedding Planner Jo Daye of Accent Events, transports us to Sorrento and allows us to share Matt and Emma’s incredible journey. Their day was cleverly captured by Italian photographer Livio Lacurre and the results are quite simply stunning.
A lovely young couple who had already shared 11 amazing years together before their big day. Both have extremely hectic lives, Matt is a research statistician and Emma a doctor, with such busy schedules coupled with moving home they needed someone to guide, assist and inspire them and to turn their ideas into their dream wedding in Italy.

Accent Events began our relationship with Matt & Emma by getting to know them and their wedding wishes, then proposing a selection of venues that fit with their personalities and their ideas. Included within our tailored planning service, using the experience and knowledge of the Sorrento peninsula we have gathered over the years, we designed an itinerary for them to view their top venues, accompanied by a member of our Italian-English speaking team. During a stress-free, enjoyable Easter break, the year before their wedding, we introduced Matt & Emma to their perfect venue.
The couple were completely blown away by Relais Blu, a chic and stylish boutique hotel situated in what can only be described as a heavenly location…high above the Sorrento coastline in the beautiful, natural setting of Massa Lubrense. It was here that Matt & Emma’s wedding day began to take shape. They were even more thrilled when Relais Blu was featured on BBC2 The Trip to Italy with Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan, though the venue was kept secret from their guests until the day of the wedding.
Relais Blu has its own unique style – one which Matt & Emma cleverly incorporated into their wedding theme. The couple chose to bring certain items with them from the UK, which allowed them to give each of their guests a special and personal ‘thank you’ for joining them in Sorrento.
The day before the wedding day we met up with Matt & Emma, for a wedding day run through. Late afternoon at the Cloisters is a wonderful time of day, a warm, hazy sunshine still spreads it’s warmth among the charming columns that line this lovely and tranquil space that was once a monastery. It’s also the perfect time for informal walk through of the civil ceremony with the key players – just enough detail so that everyone knows their role and what to expect without taking away any of the wow factor or magic of the wedding day. We then gathered together Matt & Emma’s decorative items and elements and took these to Relais Blu for our final check on the arrangements with the venue’s owner.
Emma and her ‘best girls’ were to originally get ready at the Plaza Hotel just off the Piazza Tasso, however it soon became obvious that the room size would not be ideal for our blushing bride, her 5 bridesmaids, and her photographer, so the day before the wedding we decided to move the bride to La Minervetta hotel where the ladies would have the perfect amount of space for their preparations and where photographer Livio Lacurre would be able to creatively capture the beginning to such an important day.
This change of venue meant a few last minute adjustments to arrangements including flower delivery, hair and make-up and the photo schedule and several shuttle trips between Matt & Emma’s getting ready locations for the various team members and suppliers, but we took it all in our stride, everything fell perfectly into place and the amazing images of Emma and the girls getting ready are perfect proof that we made the right decision.
