Wedding Welcome Letter

A wedding welcome letter is a nice way to make your guests feel special and to ensure they are fully informed about your wedding celebrations.

For our wedding in France we placed a wedding welcome letter together with an out of town bag containing a bottle of local regional sparkling French wine and chocolates in each of our guests’ hotel room.

Diane & Colin’s wedding welcome letter by Wedding Invitation Designer

We organised and negotiated a special rate for all our guests to stay in the same hotel and the hotel staff very kindly placed the welcome letter and bag in each of our guests’ rooms prior to their arrival.

Our reason for having a wedding welcome letter was two-fold:

Firstly, we wanted our guests to know how incredibly touched and grateful we were that they had made such an effort to travel abroad to celebrate our wedding with us. We felt the welcome letter and small gifts was a nice way of doing this.

Secondly, the wedding welcome letter was a good way to ensure that our guests were fully informed about the three days of celebrations that we had lined up. It provided them with everything they needed to know about each event (e.g. where, when, how) so they didn’t have to worry about missing anything and could just relax knowing that everything was taken care of.

I would highly recommend putting together a wedding welcome letter. If your guests are staying in different hotels it may be a little more work to organise but still really worthwhile.

All our guests commented what a nice touch the wedding welcome letter and gifts were and felt it really set the tone for a fantastic weekend.

Wedding Welcome Letter Example

If you need some inspiration to write a wedding welcome letter ours is below.

Bienvenue!

Regardless of whether you are from Melbourne or Margate we’d like to thank you for taking the time and effort to travel all this way to celebrate our wedding with us. It really means a great deal to us both that you’re here to share this special occasion.

For our part we’ll do our best to ensure that you leave us with not only the finest local chocolate but also great memories and a storming hangover.

All you have to do is.

  1. Read and digest the pick up times / locations (detailed below) for the 3 events
we’ve lined up for you over the course of the weekend
  2. Relax and have fun

…simple.

Friday

Pre-wedding day drinks – Grand Café le Toulouse from 7pm

Drinks on Friday evening will be held at Grand Café le Toulouse located at Place du Capitole. This is only a short walk from the hotel and is found easily on the tourist map available at reception.

Drinks will be a relaxed affair from 7pm onwards. We hope it will be an opportunity for you to catch up with those you already know and acquaint yourselves with those you don’t prior to the formalities on Saturday.

Nibbles will be provided but please feel free to venture out for dinner if you would like to make the most of the French cuisine. The Grand Café le Toulouse has a perfectly respectable restaurant.

Saturday

Wedding day – Pick up from Hotel Lobby at 2:45pm – 3:00am return

‘Is it getting hot in here?’

The wedding is to be held at Château de Languedoc, a 45 minute drive South East of Toulouse.

We have arranged for a bus to pick you up from the Holiday Inn to take you to the chateau. Please be ready in the Hotel Lobby no later than 2:45pm. The only person who’ll benefit from you missing the pick up will be your taxi driver!

Should you have any problems or questions regarding transport to and from the Hotel just give Ed a call on 555 555.

Be warned it is customary for French wedding festivities to continue right through to breakfast the next morning! However, having gauged the durability and alcohol tolerance of many of our guests we thought it would be wise to conclude festivities at 3:00am at which time a bus will be ready and waiting to return you to the hotel.

Sunday

The Recovery Lunch – Pick up from Hotel Lobby at 11:45am – 4:30pm return

‘Just water for me thanks.’

No rest for the wicked – we have organised for a bus to pick you up from the hotel and bring you out to Château de Languedoc for a ‘Recovery Lunch’.

This will be a very relaxed affair providing the chance for you to take in the fresh air and sample more local food and wine whilst lounging in the garden.

The bus will be leaving the hotel at noon so please be ready in the Hotel Lobby no later than 11:45am.

‘Hello reception? Could I get a wake up call in 5 hours time please.’

The bus will depart the Chateau at 4:30pm to bring you back to the hotel. This will leave plenty of time for those of you catching a Sunday evening flight to get to the airport and check in.

Whilst you are in Toulouse

Toulouse is a great city to just wonder around and explore but if you’ve something more definite in mind maybe these suggestions will help.

For Gourmets.

Place St Georges has some fantastic little brasseries to enjoy a nice meal in a lively environment.

For those of you with faster recovery rates Toulouse is home to some great markets on Sunday morning providing a unique atmosphere and a great selection of fresh local produce. Try Victor Hugo for an indoor food market, Boulevard de Strasbourg for fresh fruit and vegetables and Basilique Saint-Sernin for bric-a-brac.

Xavier at 6 Place Victor Hugo offers a fine selection of top quality international, domestic and local cheeses.

For Culture Vultures.
Your best bet is to head for the Tourist Office (located 2 mins. Walk at Donjon du Capitole) who’ll be able to advise you as to the local sites of particular interest.

Should you need to contact us.

Château de Languedoc
11327 Languedoc

Telephone: 555 555

Thanks again for coming to celebrate with us. Hope you enjoy the local champagne and chocolates. The weekend starts now!

All our love

Natalie & Simon
