In my opinion, a personal wedding website is a must have for a wedding abroad.
If you’re getting married abroad, I think they’re invaluable and the best and easiest way to provide your guests with all the information they’ll need to know about travelling to and attending your wedding abroad.
By choosing to have your wedding abroad you will need to provide your guests with a lot more information than you would if you were having your wedding at home, and a website is an easy and effective way to do this.
When inviting guests to a wedding abroad you will need to give them extra special attention and make their experience of coming to your wedding as effortless as possible. I believe a personal wedding website is a great way of achieving this. When you send your wedding abroad invitation simply include the details of your wedding website.
A website can also be a great way to develop a growing sense of excitement in the build up to your wedding. By providing, and continually updating, lots of interesting and enticing information you will effectively sell your wedding to your guests, getting them excited at the prospect of attending your wedding in an exotic location.
An alternative to a personal wedding website is to send an information pack with your wedding invitation. I believe however a wedding website is a lot more effective and has a number of advantages over a written information pack.
Top 10 Reasons for Creating a Personal Wedding Website
1) Fun
A website is a simple, easy and fun way to provide your guests with all the information they will need to come to your wedding abroad.
2) Visual
A website is visual and interactive.
3) Set the Scene
You can use your website to get your guests excited about your wedding and wedding destination by describing what will await them and showing them fantastic pictures of your chosen location.
4) Extra Information
A website makes it easy for your guests to find additional information about your wedding and wedding destination. You can provide them with direct links to other websites, such as tourist information sites, recommended accommodation, airlines, car hire companies and your wedding gift registry.
5) Up to Date
With a website you can continually update the information you provide your guests about your wedding abroad.
6) Reminders
You can use your website to make special announcements and send out reminders. This will further build momentum and excitement about your wedding day.
7) RSVP
Your guests can RSVP electronically through your website. Your guests will probably find this easier than walking to a post box and it will allow you to easily capture any information you need, such as special dietary requirements, their flight arrival and departure times, accommodation arrangements and participation in extra celebrations and activities.
8) Inclusive
For guests that can’t make it to your wedding, a website will help make them feel part of the celebrations, they can follow the build up to your “big day” and afterwards they can view any pictures you put online.
9) Easy
Setting up a personal wedding website is simple and easy. There are a number of excellent companies who specialise in providing personal wedding websites. Even if you are a complete novice with no technical skills you won’t find it difficult, you just add the information and they do the rest.
10) Cost Effective
It is cost effective. In most cases setting up a website will be less expensive than printing out and sending written information packs to each of your guests.

I’m really happy with it. My webpage is super cute, I’ve been able to collect all the guest’s contact addresses through there, I’ve made it so guests rsvp online and it keeps track of everything. I’ve added dietary requirements and song requests to the rsvp too which is super handy. You can send out email announcements and I had a scrolling banner for my covid postponement. And I love that it links to maps when you put in your venue address, and you can put your order of the day online with the your different venues if you’re having things in different places. I also like that you can get guests to rsvp to individual events, and they can only see the info for what they’re invited to. Overall I’m happy with it and I don’t mind paying for the features, because I wouldn’t have been able to make a page like that myself. – Hannah B
