The two main things guests will need to book for your wedding abroad are:
- Travel to your wedding destination and
- Accommodation
If you give your guests enough information they will generally be happy to make their own arrangements.
I believe though, you will make it a lot easier for your guests if you recommend accommodation. I would provide a detailed list of all the accommodation available in the area where you are getting married. You can put the details in an information pack or on your personal wedding website.
For my wedding I pre-booked all the accommodation for our guests. Although this took time to confirm people’s travel details and specific requirements it made it a lot easier for us during the event.
There were a few reasons for this:
Firstly we organised transportation to take our guests to and from our wedding venue. This made it easier for everyone to be picked up and dropped off at the same hotel.
Secondly by having all our guests stay in the one hotel we were able to negotiate special rates for them.
Thirdly we put welcome letters and gifts in each of our guests’ rooms. We were able to co-ordinate this with the hotel and they did this on our behalf. This proved a nice surprise for our guests and the letter worked as a small welcome note and detailed the weekends itinerary.
