Laura & Claudio’s Castle Wedding in Italy
Passionate about the region they grew up in, Laura and Claudio wanted to celebrate their wedding surrounded by the stunning hills of Langhe and the endless vineyards of Roero. Their beautiful images were captured by Benni Carol Photography, a team of two very talented Italian sisters who specialise in outdoor, fine art, destination weddings.
Don’t think it’s too hard. Of course, it’s not easy to plan a wedding abroad, but people are more than willing to help.

Why a Castle Wedding in Italy…
We are from a lovely little town in the province of Cuneo, which is in the beautiful Roero area, famous worldwide for its excellent wines and food tradition. We knew that this was the perfect location for our wedding day and Malabaila Castle in Canale would be the perfect venue.
Wedding Ceremony…
Our ceremony was held in Confraternita della SS. Trinita Church, Bra. This beautiful and unique building is a jewel of Piedmont baroque, which is studied in Italian high schools as it is such a stunning piece of art.
We chose 4 pm as the time of our ceremony. This was perfect as it allowed the strong September light to soften and hit that lovely golden light, ideal for our couples photos which were captured on top of a hill surrounded by an amazing landscape.
The Wedding Day…
We got ready at our homes and as is tradition in Italy, we walked to the church for the ceremony. Following the ceremony we drove to the reception, stopping on the way for our couples photos in a gorgeous location that we had chosen prior to our wedding.
On arrival at the reception venue, guests were severed an aperitivo in the beautiful grounds of the castle, giving them time to relax prior to the meal. The aperitivo showcased the specialities of the region, including different wines. We then had some formal photos taken prior to the meal. Our caterer Davide Palluda, is known as one of the best chefs in Italy and quite frankly, the food was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Following the meal, we had very funny speeches and then cut the wedding cake, which was made by Caffe Posta. Right after the cake cutting the DJ Alberto Munch Monchiero started to play and we all danced late into the night.
Wedding Vision…
The wine tradition of the area was definitely the main focus of the decor and main theme. Our table board was made out of wooden wine boxes and each table had the name of one famous wine from the region. The venue we picked for our reception was a unique castle in the middle of a typical small Italian town. The halls in which we had our meal were an elegant ancient wine cellar, with superb wines which have aged for years.
Reception Venue…
Dating back to 1270, Malabaila Castle in Canale, was the perfect choice for a castle wedding in Italy. It has amazing green grounds all around where you can hold an outdoor reception plus offers a stunning and unique space for an indoor reception. The castle is licensed to hold legal civil ceremonies and has two small apartments where you can stay.
Fun Part of the Wedding Day…
Our friends organised a couple of very funny little games to tell the details about how we met. It was a lovely way to share our personal stories in a different way.
Advice for couples planning a castle wedding in Italy…
Don’t think it’s too hard. Of course, it’s not easy to plan a wedding abroad, but people are more than willing to help. For example, our wedding photographers are based in Florence and London which makes it very easy for them to communicate with wedding couples from the UK. They are always more than happy to assist their couples through their planning, so do not be afraid to ask for help!
