Hidden Italy
There was a connection to this special and unique place, Henry and Carol had such a vivid memory of their experience 6 years ago when they were first introduced to the Su Gologone ethos, it was the first place that came to mind when they decided to get married.
This is hidden Italy, a secret. It is not until you begin to explore and discover the many different spaces in all their colourfulness you realise that Su Gologone is not one building but a mini village. There are open terraces and courtyards, an extensive wine cellar, it is impossible to be sad surrounded by all the colours of the rainbow. It is a very visual place, full of local arts and crafts.
It was the perfect location to bring together a very close number of family friends, in a relaxed environment where pre and post wedding events could be hosted on the property without lessening the beauty of their wedding day.
Honouring Tradition
The celebrations ran over two days, the first was in honour of Carol’s Chinese heritage. There were fun traditional Chinese wedding games where Henry’s tasks would earn his bride! This was then followed by a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony on the bright orange terrace of the Terrazza della Fortuna. This was not as formal as it could have been it was more to show love and respect to parents.
Carol and Henry wore typical Chinese attire in the colour red which blended with the orange, yellow and blue. It truly looked spectacular. This day ended with a private star-gazing event on the Terrazza dei Sogni (Terrace of Dreams). Magic.
A Twist on the Events
The wedding day was a buzz of activity with friends arriving on Sardinia, it was for this reason that Carol and Henry put a twist on the events deciding to host a “welcome” aperitivo before the symbolic ceremony. This was so that those guests who arrived on the wedding day had the opportunity to mingle and say hello for the first time and for Henry and Carol to welcome guests together. It was wonderful to see the hugs and handshakes and to hear the laughter.
A Very Special Ceremony
While Carol slipped away to change, guests were entertained by talented musicians – EvoStrings – an electric string trio. They were then invited to take their seats on the panoramic Bar Tablau terrace, an all white terrace accented by splashes of colour from handmade cushions ready for Carol’s entrance.
It was a moment I will remember, I was seeing something I had dreamed about for a long time, something special was about to happen against the magnificence of Mount Corrasi and the Supramonte Range.
To have a connection that resonates on a personal level to time and place deepens the experience. This was the most amazing outside ceremonial location in which cultures were woven together in the wonderfully scripted words of the personalised ceremony binding together two people who were meant to be.
The ceremony started at 7pm and ended as the sky turned to nightfall. It was skin tingling stuff.
A very big thank you to Carol and Henry for sharing their wedding story and beautiful images with us, we wish you both a lifetime of happiness.
