Vegan Delight
The couple are vegans, so it was important to them that their vegan lifestyle was incorporated into their wedding. “Before we even began to plan our wedding, we knew that we wanted to honeymoon at “The Lodge” on the island of Grenada, a retreat created especially for people living the vegan lifestyle”, shared the bride.
“The Lodge” not only ensures that their guests’ vegan wishes and desires are met (from serving vegan food to environmental-friendly housekeeping) but is located in the most beautiful setting. It overlooks the stunning coast of Grenada and is surrounded by mountains and rainforest – a haven for newlyweds!
The Planning Hassle at Home
Initially the couple started to plan their wedding at home, but after a short time they began to realise that it was getting too complicated, expensive and not at all what they wanted. “We were looking for simplicity and privacy at a moderate price, which turned out to be impossible to achieve at home”, expressed Jen.
So after trying to figure out a way to plan what they wanted, they came up with the idea of combining their honeymoon and wedding into one, a so called “wedding-moon”. This way, they were able to have the wedding they dreamed of, without having to make a compromise on their dreams and budget.
Grenada Weddings
Since they had tried to organise their own wedding at home, they knew how much time and effort it took to plan a wedding. So for their wedding in Grenada, they decided to work with a local wedding planner, who could do all the planning and organization for them. The bride explained, “the owners of “The Lodge” recommended the services of Grenada Wedding to us, which turned out to be the best choice we could have made”.
“Lucille and her team at Grenada Wedding were very helpful, friendly, organised and made our wedding day stress-free. We didn’t have to worry about a thing, and were at ease knowing we could trust Grenada Wedding to take care of all the details. It was also great to have someone who knew the island intimately and took the burden of the paperwork and obtaining our marriage licence away, in all it simply made things a lot easier”
Expectations Exceeded
“Our wedding day arrived”, expressed an excited Jen. “After I got pampered at the salon, I was brought to the site of our wedding ceremony, where Sal was nervously waiting for me. We didn’t know where the wedding ceremony was going to be held, just knew it was going to be near the ocean but we were surprised by a stunningly beautiful beach. We had both dreamed of a beach wedding and the location turned out to be more than we could have ever wished for. The lapping waves calmed the groom’s nerves and the words of the marriage officer were poetic and charming and suited us.
It was a truly romantic ceremony. A “just the two of us” wedding, just the way we wanted it. We came to Grenada without family and friends, because we didn’t want to have a big celebration but rather savor this moment alone.
The ceremony was accompanied by the live music of a steel pan, which added even more to the already exotically Caribbean atmosphere. At first I thought I wouldn’t want any music, but during one of our conversations our wedding planner convinced me otherwise, and I am glad she did, because it made it a truly special and unique moment in this breathtaking location.
Intimate and Romantic
Our cake was made by the owner of the lodge, it was 100% vegan chocolate wedding cake, and adorned with Passion fruit flowers, who would have known this vine produces such perfectly designed flowers. While the sun was setting we had our intimate reception and the romantic meal took place back at our accommodation. The memories of the day, touring of the island, the people we met will be with us forever. A destination wedding can be all you wish for and more.
